Copy it, change the numbers to yours, and put it where clients see it before they book — not after they miss.

A policy nobody reads does not change behaviour. The wording below is deliberately short, states the consequence plainly and stays warm enough that a good client does not feel accused of anything.

Cancellation policy

We hold your appointment time exclusively for you, so we ask for 24 hours' notice if you need to change or cancel it.

· Cancel or reschedule with more than 24 hours' notice — no charge.
· Less than 24 hours' notice — 50% of the service price.
· Not showing up — 100% of the service price.

For appointments over $150 we take a card at booking. It is only charged if one of the above applies.

We know life happens. If something unavoidable comes up, tell us and we will sort it out.

Making it work

Put it where it is read

On the booking page above the confirm button, in the confirmation text, and in the reminder. A policy discovered after a no-show is not a policy.

Make the number match the service

A 24-hour rule fits a cut. A three-hour colour or a med-spa slot usually deserves 48.

Enforce it about eight times in ten

The rare exception is why clients stay. Never enforcing it is why the policy stops working.

Automate the awkward part

Card holds and deposits at the point of booking remove the conversation entirely, which is the real reason most owners do not enforce their own policy.

The next client who calls
shouldn’t reach voicemail.
